What kind of yarn are you?

Note to self: Never post one of those quizilla things if I want to keep the format the same. I posted one and jacked my format. Sigh!

Dyeing after Thanksgiving

First things first, I was able to finish up the Shrunken Head Bag on Thanksgiving after all the turkey had been devoured. I dig the finished product. It screams homemade, but it's cool that way.
Finished shrunken head
Then on Friday morning I tried my hand at some koolaid dying with the leftover white Patton's Classic Merino I used for the skull on the SHB. I did two colors, icy blue berry blast, and lemon lime. They turned out better than I expected, except that I need to move my yarn holding the skein together when dying--I got a slight white stripe!

Shrunken Head!

I love felting! Now that I've made this bag for Beerdie, I really want one myself!

Now mind you the finished product will have a nice felted strap, but here's the "before" picture:

And here's the "after" picture (the skull isn't quite that close to the top of the bag--the angle of the camera makes it look that way:

So I'll be sure to post more pictures of the final product. The worst part about felting? Waiting for it to dry--definately!!! :-)

Harry Potter

Well this weekend was Harry Potter. Granted I didn't go see it, but my husband did. He went to the private showing Chunky's teacher had arranged for her birthday (although her birthday is Tuesday). He said he liked it ok. Wasn't as good as the book apparently, but find me a movie based on a book that is as good as it's movie.

On Friday, I gift wrapped the HP scarf and sent it to school with Chunky. I am so proud of him--he didn't spill the beans to his teacher at ALL. Whereas I'm happy he's getting older and can keep a secret, he's getting too big! He's not my little boy anymore he's starting to look like a little man!

Harry Potter Scarf

I wasn't able to get his teachers initials embroidered like I wanted--I tried and it came out looking like crap. But she loved it anyway--I'm so glad! Even if it is an old school HP scarf and not the ones that they've got in the movies now!

Success!

Ha ha! Bring it on DPNs!!! I have conquered you!
DPN side
What I'm making...I don't know. But hey, it's fun! I've even gotten past my first row fear. I've learned to cast on right onto each needle. It's pretty Jawesome as Beerdie would say. Ha ha!
And then, another major accomplishment--flowers in November. Wouldn't you know the first day of snow brought flowers? Chunky and I planted these about a month ago. His bloomed before mine, and he couldn't be prouder!

D(amn)P(ointy)N(eedles)

Well I finished my Harry Potter Scarf. Onto the next project I suppose. I found a 50% off Michael's coupon in Sunday's paper last week--I translated it out to a set of 5 DPN size 8 bamboo needles. Hee hee.

So I've been wrestling with them ever since. Gah, I feel like such a slow moron on them! I'll keep trying. But if they frustrate me too much, I'm giving them up. I'm not really down with the whole sock scene...and I can always use my circulars. God save the circulars! Course I'm trying to remember what life was like when I first learned how to use my circulars. I felt like a slow idiot then too. So hopefully it will all work out eventually.

If these things don't work and I get frustrated, I'll go back to my shrunken head bag for B-Dawg. I got to thinking that if the skulls I plan to knit intarsia and then felt turn out small or shrinky dink, I'll just dub it that. I've got this interesting idea to make buttons out of the broken glass of a picture frame, some of the BodyWorlds brochures I picked up, and some fimo. I was going to make her a scrapbook of her trip down here in May as her xmas present, but since we didn't have many pictures due to my camera sucking major butt--I hatched upon this idea for a felted bag.

Oh, and the best part of this past weekend? At Michael's I discovered they're now carrying Pattons Classic Merino Wool. Nice!

I'm an idiot--but I've got it now!

felted hat

Hee hee!!! It worked! I'm about as excited as I was when I pulled my felted hat from the washer....

Thank you so much joanna on the knittyboard for walking my idiot self thru it!!!!!! :-)
