And then it all came crashing down...

...Dr. J pulled the job offer.

Soon-to-be Dr. Bezzie has no job lined up after he graduates anymore.

Thank the lord I've been mentally prepping myself for this.

Off to look at jobs for the hubby....

Can someone cue "I will survive" ?

Aw crap! I have no words...

I know the title of the song is what you want...but the rest of the words...maybe we should find you a better theme song. Like the A-Team, or the Greatest American Hero...I got it! The theme song to Bussom Buddies! That one was way up beat. Billy Joel I think. And it has nothing to do with telling your man to "turn around now, and walk out that door..."

Yes, you're right. I'm not mad at my man. It's just a shitty set of circumstances that was dealt to him. It's not like he was fired or anything or the offer was rescinded due to bad performance, it was just bad timing.

Nope. Won't return to Michigan. Worst case scenario he finishes up end of November (at least he finally has a date set!) and moves down here and looks for a job in the interim. I know I can make it paying for life (just barely!) on my measely paycheck. I'm just not really looking forward to moving again!! The boxes! The cats in a car! The packing and unpacking! Another new school for Chunky! Another $5K in moving expenses!

hmmm... well, that indeed sucks... i know it rarely helps to hear atrocious generalities, but here goes mine: sometimes life throws you a curve ball just to make sure you stay on your toes... i'm sure you'll figure out a way to deal with this big change of plans, hang in there.
in the meantime, if kntting can help you "cope" and keep your sanity, i'd say go for Samus... it's a lovely pattern, and I think a contrasting band would look lively... my suggestion, maybe you could do 3 colors rather than 2... i know it complicates knitting (and the possibilities for you to match the sweater with other clothes later on), but i like colors in odd numbers... maybe the body in dark moss, the braided band in light kiwi with the i-cord trim in a neutral (ecru or black) or even accent color (funky orange or bright purple?)

Glad you've been mentally prepping yourself. Something will come up! I know it.

Sending good wishes and job vibes to you and the MadScientist.

This really sucks. I'll be thinking about you and I know things will work out in the end.

By the way, I love the spide hat and gift bag. I hope the lady really appreciates it!

Well, fuck a duck. I wish there were some sort of legal accountability that you could hold the advisors to for this fiasco. It seems criminal that they can disrupt people's lives and livelihoods to such a degree out of pure-D laziness without any consequences.

You will survive.

Like they all said, that just sucks. Oh Shit! Not fair!

But, post-docs are like buses; there's another one coming in 15 mins. I'm sure of it.

It's a sign. I pack up my stuff and meet you in Texas. From there we go to live with PennyKarma and become the first reality TV show about knitters. We call it: In Stitches. Yeah, that's gonna be sweet.

Hey, it will only be a matter of months before Darth and Pie team up and take over the world so then we won't even need jobs.

Somebody better warn PK that we're on our way...

Bezzie,

I'm so stunned that the appropriate Celine song fails to come to mind.
