Hell Has Frozen Over!

I have no qualms about declaring Texas my own version of Hell. But today, living in Hell has it's perks. You see, in Hell they don't design the roads very well for ice and snow (think twisty, stoplights at the bottom of hills, blind corners, etc.) So when there's a possibility of snow or ice they shut down.

I got the call last night from Papa Bear Boss that we were on delay and weren't to come in until noon. Then at 9:00 a.m. she called to let me know they had shut the place down completely for the day. Hooray!

Just a few shots from Hell today:

My frozen car door

It's actually accumulated hail, not snow, but I'll take what I can get of anything cold and white!

Frozen AC
In Hell, even the air conditioners can freeze!

Ice ice baby!!

Great Storm!
I give this ice storm a big thumbs up! Hooray for wussie Texans!

Ok, I'm now off to curl up with a lap whore (Springs, the cat) to try to keep warm. The heat is busted in this dump, but hey, we're Real Alaskans! Heat? We don't need no stinkin' heat!!

Aaaaah, Bezzie. When I saw the ice outside, the first thing I thought of was you and your Alaskan voodoo. Thanks a lot, now I can't go to walmart. ;)

See, you really want to move to Wisconsin. You'll get more of the pretty white stuff there than in NYC.

Yes, Bezzie, this is all your fault! I can't remember the last time I saw icicles in the middle of the day -- sometimes (like once every 3 years or so) they'll form overnight, but melt in the morning. So, wow -- icicles hanging from my barbecue grill! Thanks!!!!

I wish they would shut down for something occasionally in Cal.

We get no snow days, no heat days, nothing.

Occasionally, we get a Spare the Air day, which means that we should not drive our car....

Yep, we get nothing.

I gotta wonder what is going on when Texas freezes... and I was walking around without a coat, wearing capris, and teva sandals after my swim class last night at 8:15pm... in Delaware!

Ha! If it is anything like down here - your grocery stores are now all out of everything. When the weather does turn like that here - everyone races to the grocery and buys up everything in site!

I'm shocked they even have heaters!

Wow! Some truly wintery weather down there. We got actual bona-fide snow. And a cold snap. Woke up to 10F. I took the kids sledding after school and actually literally froze my butt (because I couldn't find my snow pants, and my butt hangs over the sides of the wooden toboggan). Then home for cocoa and butt-thawing. And my extra-yummy chicken barley soup.

I lived in Hell ... I mean, Texas, for a while. I was in the military. It snowed - about a centimeter - and they closed the post. It was freaking hilarious!

First, why are you wearing a Dallas Cowboys hat? Second, have you seen that Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders reality show? Third, you know damn well I can do a sexy walk better than any of those cheerleaders. Fourth, ENJOY THE COLD! It's chilly in the ATL (chicka-chicka-wha) and I'm enjoying it.

Is that a military issue pea coat you're sporting? Go surplus stores! Well, that's where I got mine, anyway.

3 inches of snow in Seattle yesterday. The boss hosted a lunch for the 10 people who showed up to work...I am nutso, but paychecks are handly suckers...

Way to go AK Cold Front! We are getting a little warmer up here but always more snow. Your MYB's camero is covered with snow and if you did not know that it was parked there you would just think that it was a pile of snow! My Accord still is not running and so it just got towed to the fix-it shop to get fixed. Hopefully it is not anything too serious. Can not wait to have a car with some heat again! Enjoy the "COLD"!!! Love, Mom

I can live with the closures and such because it means more knitting time for me. What gets very annoying are the TV stations broadcasting continously on the weather and being so dramatic about it. Thank goodness for cable.

I tried to leave a comment yesterday but the firewall at work blocked the comments page, hehe.

Glad you're getting some cold weather there in Tejas! It's cold here too but not that cold.

Hmm, this may go down as the most boring comment ever.

Oh my gosh, this looks so terribly cold! We've been having spring-like temperatures here in the Austrian Alps all through winter so far, but I'm afraid if snow and coldness will hit us, it might get similarly bad as over there ;(
Stay warm!
