Feral Fowl Search

Or a wild goose hunt.

That's what I went on this weekend to obtain the missing items for Chunky's Urban Brokeback Cowboy Extravaganza next Monday.

I found a long sleeved "denim" shirt. It's actually light blue and no where near denim, but it was $5.00 at Kmart. It will have to do.

I finished the microphone.

The white pants were a no-go.

Plenty of white pants for girls, but nothing for boys. And no, I will not buy my son a pair of girl's white capris for a school performance.

The answer to this? Ghetto Sewing Skills Activate!

I've got to have them done by Friday. So much for TV knitting at night.

I've been in an uber-irritated state lately where everything is rubbing me the wrong way. As such, and combined with having to get these stupid white pants stitched up, I probably won't be blogging much this week.

Since I don't have anything nice to say, I won't say it at all.

Damn you're up early! I hope the mood lifts, but totally understand. There have been weeks when I woke up pissed off. Not a great way to start the day.

Hope you week gets better.

The microphone fits in well with that Urban Brokeback Mountain thing. heh... You definitely deserve some sort of award for your mad crafty skilz!

Yay! for microphone!

Cheer up!

Chin up, Bezz. This too shall pass.

I do wish I could be there in person for the Brokeback Mountain extravaganza. I do so love to laugh inappropriately.

That's a kickass microphone! How many people can say they've had the privilege of holding a hand-knit mike? Next thing you know, your local TV station may be asking for microphone cozies to match your son's incomparable style.

Good luck with the pants. I hate, hate, hate sewing, but it's such a useful skill that produces such beautiful results!

Feel better soon.

You knit a microphone?! Someday Chunky will amaze his friends with the tale of his mother's ingenuity.

Nicely done on the mic! That is tres chic!

Sorry about the white pants. But props to you for sewing them! I haven't gotten past cushions and hems. And even hems I generally cop out on and go with iron-on fusing tape!

You know what they say - if you can't think of something nice to say, come sit by me! ;)

It's that time of year. Things are what I call 'cripply'. Not meaning 'crippled' but sort of like when you get cellophane and wad it up and it makes that crinkle-ripply noise that sets my teeth on edge. That's what the beginning of summer is like for me. My teeth are on edge. So don't blog. We'll all be here when you feel like it.
I don't want to be too negative, but damn! the hoops these teachers put parents through for these pageants and school plays. My sister had to turn my niece into and ancient Egyptian goddess for a historical tableaux performance. They made an ankh out of tin foil. Argh. I guess the kids gain confidence by being on stage, or something.

Dang if I was closer I would make those pants for Chunky! But the ones that you are making will be fine. He'll probably only wear them for 15 min and will be done with them. But then again knowing Chunkie he will LOVE them and wear them to threads! On the other hand the mike turned out real cool. Almost could past for a real one. Hang in there! Love, Mom

Dang! If I lived closer, I wouldn't do a damn thing....

...but I'd probably take everyone out for ice cream after the Brokeback Urban Cowboy debut.

I got my first period in a pair of white denim capris when I was 11. I was also in a play, but it was an ultra-religious crazy Mennonite play about Jesus and the devil. Seriously tragic.

I would imagine that cowboys would never have worn white pants.

The microphone looks great!

I'd be pissed, too, if someone gave me that impossible shopping list.

Someday we'll get together for a weekend and I'll talk you through Sewing Machine 101. Make sure the bobbin goes in the right way. Make sure you use a fresh needle and that it's correctly sized for the material. Only ever hand-turn the needle in the forward direction. Those three pointers can eliminate a LOT of sewing machine woes.

Oh, I hope you rweek gets better. In my neck of the woods, my sister got laid off due to a company merger and I was informed that I need another root canal! Hopefully this means that all the bad karma has come my way and the rest of your week is freed up from malevolent influences! This way only one of us has a sucky week.

I've only had limited time to surf the blogs lately and the 2x I've made it here in the last month I see you and I are on the same page.

RE: blogs that are popular. Not only do I not care for the popular blogs, I pretty much don't know about the popular blogs. I am oblivious to most things. I just don't care to know.

RE: Pissed off. Me too!!! I almost blogged the other night about some pissy people and pissy stuff and decided screw it, I don't have the time. Still, it's in me and I want to let it go.

I should call you ;)

Good luck with the pants! At first glance I thought the microphone was another one of Penny's experiments. LOL. Then I read that it was a microphone and it looks great! You are one rocking mom. Now go eat some chocolate! :D

I'm not surprised you couldn't find white pants for boys. I mean seriously, who'd wear them in public.

Great microphone.
