Knock It Off!

I finished my first Der Frawd Sock. I normally don’t post pictures of one-completed sock (kind of takes the fun out of posting the finished pair) but I will post a pic of this one.

100_3946

Ohhh! The colors! And Mom, if you're not high* and reading, that's two day's worth of stubble on that pasty leg.

100_3956

What's harder than taking a picture of the front of your leg? Taking a picture of the BACK of your leg!

I simply love that name of these socks as it sounds like the fakey-German way to say “The Fraud” socks. Thanks to Weeze for coming up with that name.

Der Frawd socks are actually Turtlegirl's Red Dwarf socks knit backwards (Do you get it? Red Dwarf spelled backwards = Der Frawd).

I didn’t do them on 2 circs like Turtlegirl suggested, nor did I do them toe-up. I'll give you the more exciting details once I finish the other sock.

Since we’re on the topic of knockoffs—I completed a crafty project this weekend that falls under the catergory of knock offs.

First a little background.

Behold my lunchbag:

100_3959

I’ve been carrying a peanut butter sandwich and a dessert or fruit in this brown paper bag since I started my new job on May 7. I’ve wanted to see how long I could go using it before it turned to dust.

Sadly I have taped up a rip for the last time. I just don’t think she’ll be able to handle much more sammy schlepping.

Flash back to right before we left San Antonio--the mistress of Meowycakes, Roxy Anne sent me a crazy set of ginormous advertising banners for designer eyewear. Don’t worry, she works for the eyewear industry. She's not ad klepto. She knew I’d be able to come up with something kooky to do with them since they’re made of a very heavy duty cardboard.

And I believe I finally did.

Behold my Dolce & Gabbana lunchbag:

100_3957

Now turn to the side baby...

100_3958

Yeah, it’s kind of g-fab. I think I should have continued the stitching on the top of the bag to give it a cleaner look. But I dig it.

I’m now envisioning a tote bag featuring the eyeball of some hipster chick or the stubbly chin of a metrosexual dude sporting Versace eyewear. Wouldn’t that be cool with maybe some nifty funky ribbon handles?

I’ll have to get my marmosets working on this idea ASAP.

*Everyone's favorite mom they've never met gets Lefty removed tomorrow and will be, by this time tomorrow, probably be high on pain meds. Keep her boobies in your thoughts!!

FIRST!

When I was a freshman in high school, Mom and I had a competition to see who could use their paper sack lunch bag the longest. In the end I was pretty much wrapping my sandwich in the bag and not carrying anything in it. I think I won. The prize was a king size bag of M&M's. To get me back, Mom bought EVERYONE a bag of king size M&M's. I was a little bitter, until I started eating the M&M's.

I dig your new sack. I don't take a real lunch bag to work because when I leave, I'd have to have it checked.

Eeek, as gorgeous as they are, the Red Dwarf socks give me the willies...Google "red dwarf" and "Detroit" for an explanation (because I am lazy and it's late and I can't do html links after 11pm).
