Monkey Pride!

The Rosie Colorado State sweater is done!

100_4237

Pattern: My own (it's a monkey sweater, not rocket science.)

Yarn: Knit Picks Dye Your Own fingering weight koolaid dyed by me.

Needles: US2

Notes: I love how the self striping turned out! The cherry on top of this sweater was adding the little Ram's head logo and the CSU initials. Chunky had a VERY funky pair of CSU jammies that he had outgrown with those two things printed all over them. I merely cut them off the jammies and ironed them onto Rosie's new sweater.

CSU plays Cal this weekend. Hopefully this will be a LUCKY monkey sweater!

I've also been doing some car knitting:

That's a Mead scarf for Miss Maya, one of Chunky's teachers.

Which leads me to the obligatory first day of school shot (which isn't that cool when it's basically just another day for your kid due to public school sucking ass in the kindergarten department):

Now, I just have to figure out childcare for a bunch of Jewish High Holy days in September and October when school is closed. Not like I can afford to take unpaid days off work when we owe the IRS more than half a month's pay.

Those are the breaks when you take your kid to a private kindergarten that is held (but is NOT Jewish) in a synagogue.

Wake me up when September ends!

Rosie looks ready for football season!

Hope Chunky has a great day! Good luck with the holidays- isn't it just the one day off ...a Thursday of all things...not even a long weekend for those of us who get the holiday from school but aren't celebrating it.
I keep hoping to hear you aren't going to have to pay up afterall

Great sweater. Lucky monkey. My daughter works in a day care center that has a kindergarten and she says it is still a change for the kids because Kindergarten is School and not just day care.

That's a great sweater! Willow saw the teddy bear sweaters in Michael's and wanted me to buy her one. I snorted and said I could make one. Now it looks like I might have to! Were you in CO the same time we were? DH was at CU from 98-01.

You could always convert and then your employer would have to give you the high holidays off. Of course it takes longer to convert than you'll have this particular difficulty. ;-)

OK, the sweater is adorable. Rosie is such a pretty little monkey. Did she actually go to school too? How fun. I hope the other kids were nice to her.

That was the thing I loved about living in NJ, we got all the Christian *and* all the Jewish holidays off! I guess it's a bummer for a mom though.

Love the monkey sweater though!

Lot's of great knitting going on Chez Bezzie. (Did you put some extra stitches in your Mead Scarf?) Cute monkey sweater!

And Chunky's off to kindergarten! I hope he has a great year. I wish I lived near enough to help out in a day-care pinch.

Happy first day of Kindergarten Chunky!

And Bez...I hate to be the one to break it to you, but I send the kid to an afterschool place that is Jewish and if you think September is bad....wait til October. They're closed like, half the month. :(

Cute sweater! I like the iron-on action.

Does Dr. Mad Scientist's school have any kind of day care? I know it's a long shot, but I remember both of my universities having day care for the profs. kids...and they were always open, it seemed.

If not...does Dr. MS know of any undergrads that can babysit? I did it all the time for my profs.
