When Hats Go Bad

Yeah Dr. Mad Scientist's hat was a smidge too short.

I've picked up some stitches at the bottom. It will look like crap, but at this point, I just don't care!

Then remember how I said I was making a mini-mite hat for the recipient of the the BFD?

Yeah, I made it too small.

Not to worry though--I just sewed a bottom onto the hat and stuffed it.

I went the ladybug route this time with this "hat."

It's a cute little stuffie now.

Again, at this point I just don't care...!

Really cute!

Are crocheters welcome to comment on your blog? :) I found your blog through Karen's site. Karen and I met once on the subway a few months ago and I just wanted to say your craftiness rocks!

I also made a hat this past weekend that was too small. I decided it was a preemie hat instead and am donating it. I'd never thought to stuff it and make a stuffed animal. Great idea!

The antennae frighten me. I don't know why. But, kudos for taking something that was potentially just a poo sandwich and making it into something cute.

I think it came out great! Hat, stuffie, either works for a baby!
I'm sure Dr. Mad Scientist's hat will work out fantastically too. =)

The little girl will probably like that toy better than the hat.

That hat/bug is really cute. I think a kid would dig the ladybug more than a hat too.

You're very resourceful! The stuffie is adorable!

(p.s. I made sure I wore non-skanky underwear to the gynie's office--not that she wouldv'e known)

That ladybug is ADORABLE!! I love it.

I was making a hat last night and ran out of yarn just before I was ready to do the decreases... I bought more yarn and started to finish it up, but kept miscounting my stitches. When I got home I finally frogged the whole dang thing and started over.

So I feel your not-quite-right-hat pains.

Not right? I think that that hat was meant to be a stuffed ladybug!! Don't worry DMS will never know that his hat had to be altered. (What you don't tell them they will never know!) Love, Mom

Way to re-purpose! As for the mad scientist hat....call it a design feature. If someone actually has the gall to say, but it's ugly, say,"men like ugly knits" And laugh your ass off!

I always make bottom up hats short. I have to go top down.
