February 10

Ex-New Jersinian (yeah I know that's the wrong way of saying it, I'm not from here, I don't care) Rebel was predicting that February 10 would be the day we'd get a buttload of snow dumped on us.

I woke up to sunny windy skies.

But by 4:00 p.m. things started to look up.

But alas, it was just a passing quickie snowstorm.

As I type this it's 8 degrees (but negative 9 with the wind chill). The snow and wind yesterday were a result of an arctic front moving through.

The heat has been off since last Friday--so I'm super psyched about that. We might cave and turn it on for a little tonight--we'll see.

I'm even wearing my Uncircumsized Ice Queen--as I forgot my scarf at work on Friday. D'oh!

We had that same burst of snow - Willow and I were in the midst of making her valentines and I glanced outside because of the wicked wind and was dumbstruck by the swirling white stuff.

We had freaky-assed weather yesterday. Cold, rain, sun, snow, sun, sleet, thunder, sun. Today it's really windy and cold.

We're both pussies about the cold so our heat is always on. Plus there's the snake. . .

The high here yesterday was 2. Today it's supposed to be 11 -- a veritable heat wave!

Turn your heat on a little....

Just one snow storm, just one. I want snow that closes schools and makes me have to take a day off work. Today is so cold I wore a hat and I hate hats.

I actually wish it was that cold here! Okay, maybe not *that* cold, but less warm. :P It's been like spring this last week, not conducive to wearing snuggly knits!

oooh, be careful keeping your heat off - if your pipes freeze it will really be a disaster...

Oh, the beauty of an upstairs apartment. We are firm believers in leaving the heat off as long as possible. It cannot and must not go on before October 1st, and goes off promptly on May 15th. Unless I get cold. I'm the boss.

We are expecting another freaking foot of freaking snow tomorrow night into Wednesday.

I have hills, a tube, two sleds, a snowboard and somewhere between 8 and a hundred pairs of mittens. The offer to visit still stands...

Well, that shows how much I know about predicting the weather.... wait - NO! Global warming! If it weren't for global warming my prediction would have been spot on! yeah... that's it. ;)

If you can't turn on the heater, at least make sure everyone's got some wool hats & slippers on. It's cooooold out!

I was also hoping we'd have some snow for Pi's sake. It was gone so quick! The wind was terrible.

Hey! an excuse to wear handknits, always a good thing. but don't let your need for saving override your need to stay healthy. Maybe you and chunky could cuddle up to a fish hot water bottle? (I know, I'm twisting the use for your fishie, ubt needs must whent he devil drives...or something like that.

I know, that snow was just a tease. At least if it's cold we should have snow. I'm ready for spring - I know you are too. Until then, load up on the afghans!

I hope you get some real snow soon! I just got back from Indonesia, where I spent most of the time bitching about the heat and missing the cold.

In addition to the weather, I hope other things are looking up for y'all too.

When we lived in the middle of no where, MO, we did not have central heat and air. We had a wood stove. Well, the first winter, all we had was "green" wood to burn, which sucks big time because it just does not heat well at all. We would huddle up on the couch or bed with tons of blankets around us to keep warm. Also, it was very common to have our shampoo/conditioner freeze that first winter.

I understand freezing your ass off. It sucks, but I know you will do just fine.

Well, I'm trying to save money on heat, too. But I set the thermostat at 62, and the first day we got close to zero, the water pipes froze. Nasty mess, and much more costly to repair than paying the heat bill. I cranked it up to 66. Just a suggestion.
