I swear, ice water runs in Chunky's veins. It's probably the Alaskan Pedigree and the Michigan birthplace working there. I haven't seen him this excited in a long time as he was when he woke up and saw that there was snow covering everything!

When he got home from school him and Dr. Mad Scientist went outside to make a snowman.

I stayed in. I was too tired.

I had an exhausting day of working for about half the attorneys that showed up today covering for the 90% of the secretarial staff that pussed out and didn't come in today.

We had a late delay to come in at 10:30 a.m. Apparently that translates out to "Don't bother showing up" to 90% of the secretarial staff.

Now I'd be a little less bitter if I didn't have just as far to drive as 80% of those 90% that didn't show. I will cut 10% some slack because they actually live in BFE Jersey where no one plows.

But you know when the Head Cheese Partner's personal driver makes it in (he lives in western New Jersey 70 miles from the office--his kids actually go to school in Pennsylvania) that you've got no excuse for calling out.

I hope their hot chocolate was watery and their afternoon naps were restless.

My favoritest part were the attorneys giving us three secretaries who bothered to come in attitude for not being able to drop the other 100 things we were doing to do their urgent stuff.

Why they didn't call their secretaries at home and ask why they weren't in?

But I do have to give my boss props, he was very nice in loaning me out today and going light on his assignments to me. He's usually quite territorial and doesn't share me easily with others.

Dear god, that makes me sound like a whore doesn't it? If only I made that much and didn't get as many papercuts!

The snowman has a mowhawk! Cool. Next time maybe you could "wuss" out. Or offer to pick up the wimps on your way in to work. They'd have no excuse then.

Love the snowman!

I'm a legal secretary too, I can feel your pain. It's a small place, me and 3 attorneys and other assorted part-timers who come and go as they please. If I'm not there, they fall apart, and I pay the price when I come back. Law firms ... they all have their stupid quirks.

Cute snowman!

I work at a law firm too and a good chunk of the paralegals in my place didn't show up either. I was there bright and early at 7:30. I don't drive which makes it easier for me.
My Pi has Caribbean in her. Hubby said she was only outside for a few minutes before deciding she'd had enough.

Nice snowman! I was shocked, this being my first winter in Minneapolis, that there were no snowmen in sight. DH said it's because snow it's not a novelty here.

I confess, I pussed out today too. I know others made it in, but this was my first snow with the boy! And anyway, my admin is on vacation in Vegas - no guilt for me there.

What is it with boys and snow. Chunky looks so happy and the snowman is, uh...nice too with the big goiter on his head.

I thought of you when I was cleaning off my car yesterday. I knew you'd be happy to finally see a significant snow fall. Love the snowman. I think kids can ignore the cold for hours and hours and hours. There's something built into them I think.

I waited till the plow came down my street and then headed out to work. I was in the office by 9:30. I was the only one from my department to even bother getting into the office. So pissed.

I really admire legal secretaries. There is no way I could take the big egos.

That's the funniest comment I have heard lately! Love it! Ho Ho Ho!!!

Speaking of ho's (like how I transitioned?), I believe we are all whored out when we work for The Man. Bitter? Why would you think so? :)

Love the snowman!

I made it in, from the bottom of Bklyn, to Jersey City, after a bout of food poisoning. I was actually the first in, and it struck me as very amusing that all the NYers made it in before any NJ folk, even the ones that actually LIVE in JC. Sigh.

Nice snowman!! Glad that you all got some snow...ours has melted away. But it looks like there might be more coming. It's the AK in you, remember they would not close the schools for anything. They left it up to us parents to decide if the roads were too snowy for the kids to get to school. Love, Mom

Aack, snow! I hate, hate, hate cold and snow! My husband spent part of his childhood/teenage years in Houston and San Antonio and said he actually missed the snow. I find that hard to comprehend, LOL! Don't send any of that snow my way, we have enough here in Cleveland already! : )

I give you a lot of credit for working with all those attorneys, too. I have a friend who worked as a legal secretary, and she used to tell me about how so many of the attorneys were snobby, and wouldn't even answer when she'd say good morning to them.

It just doesn't feel like winter without a little snow....says the girl who grew up in So Cal...

It's more like Spring already in Seattle, yes, with sun, and no rain...and it's weirding everyone out :).

Um, did you go SLEDDING today? You got a sled for Christmas! Does this mean it's seeing some action?

Chunky has some mad snowman building skillz.

The snow is lingering here, but mostly it's icy slush. Cincinnatians don't take the snow to well. They cancelled school for Friday on Thursday afternoon. Despite the fact that it stopped snowing/raining Thursday evening and the roads were cleared by Friday morning.

I took the day off because I have to call out so early (before 6) and it was snowing really hard at that point. The weather geek was saying freezing rain on top of the snow by noon so I opted to stay home. The difference is that no one would notice as Fridays are my least busy day. By the time I woke up for good, the snow had stopped and the plain (not freeaing)rain had started. I could so easily have gone to work and I wasted a vacation day.

Yay! I'm so happy for you that you finally got some snow. We've had snow, but what's been happening is it snows on the weekend, and then by Thursday Ski-Club Day it has rained, and there's a layer of ice on top of the snow - not so good for skiing. I said as much to a lady who was complaining about all of the snow, and she looked at me like I was crazy. Her comment was "How about all of this snow?" And I said, "Yeah! It's great, isn't it?" Apparently, she didn't think so ;). Oops!

You know I'm another LAA. We had most of our staff in Friday, except for a part-timer who is about 75 who stays out when it's icy or bitter cold (who can blame her?). All of our Partners were at a retreat in Florida, and we got pizza delivered and got to leave at 3 p.m. Then I went and played the lottery and didn't win.

Is that Mr. Chunky's first snowman? It is quite a nice snowman.

I made my first snowman at age 18, when I first moved to Ohio from Arizona.

PS, keep track of this work stuff, I'm not kidding. It comes in handy at performance review and raise time.

*laughs* We had an ice storm in Houston one time. I was one of two people in the entire office. And the only reason the other person was there was because he worked the night shift in the dispatch center and had to work over.

Good for your boss for making it easier on you!

It's just been forever since I last made a snowman.
