Three Day Weekends

Are for sewing!

I dragged out the Beast again on Friday.

I just wish I could show you what I made--but it's a surprise for someone who reads this blog. I'm so very proud of it. I followed a pattern and everything! Woo!

AND! The bobbin ran out of thread--and I refilled it and reloaded it all by myself--and it worked!

It's the little things I tell you. It reminds me of when I learned how to purl...it was all downhill from there!

Woohoo for threading the machine! I've yet to even use a sewing machine and I want to learn to sew soo badly.

Congrats on the 3 days weekend! I had to work yesterday but I'm on vacation next week. I'm not going anywhere, but at least I won't be in the office!

Congrats on threading the machine. It's just like knitting, isn't it? Looks so complicated until you try it.

No 3 day weekend here - take me back to the UK where both Friday AND monday are holidays (of course, hardly anyone goes to church, but that's beside the point, right).

My sewing machine lives next to the dresser in my bedroom. When I use it, I have to set it up on the dining room table and I make a mess all over the dining room. Someday it will have it's own room and I will sew more. I would really like to make a quilt. I wish Easter Monday was a holiday like it was when I was a kid. Being a comminity mental health center, we are open most every day.

I am sitting next to my sewing machine right now (it lives in my kitchen) and it is mocking me because it knows I'm afraid of the bobbin!

You can do anything you set your mind to. I can't wait to see the surprise! I just saw a bobbin winder in one of those every gadget under the sun books. Nothing like knowing how the machine does it.

That pile of thread in front looks like what my sewing usually ends up looking like!

that black thing on the right looks like a little bug.

Yay for three day weekends and sewing! Can't wait to see what you made (well, when you can show us!). I really need to pull out my machine too!

Wow! The bobbin! Congratulations! Other than not being able to sew a straight line, I think that's the main reason sewing frightens me -- what if the bobbin runs out when my mom's not around???

Cool! I cannot wait to see what you made!

I love to sew. I just wish I had more time to do it; however, I made two skirts this weekend! I will have to blog about those later next week!

Methinks tomorrow, after I pack a box/fill a bag of trash, I will allow myself to make another quilt block. It's been too long since I made one.

I can't wait to see what you made....congrats on refilling the bobbin by yourself. :)

Ah ha!!! So you are a chip off the Old Block!!! I knew you could do it, you take care of your cars and everything else the sewing machine is no different. Can't wait to see what you made. Please don't keep us all in suspence too long. Love, Mom

Yey Bezzie! Show that machine who's boss!

I wish I could say the same about mine...it is currently king/queen? whatever lord of all that is crafty, in my house.

Which is why I'm knitting and not sewing :).

Oooh the suspense! I need to sit down with my sewing machine for a bit and figure it out once and for all. I think I'm scared of it.

Yay for sewing weekends!! While I love knitting (duh), sewing gives much better instant gratification. Once I got over my fear of the bobbin and using the darn thing, it was all downhill. I'm actually sewing as much as I knit now....

Can't wait to see what you made!

I love my sewing machine. Love it. Once you learn there's no going back either... Congrats on the bobbin! Huge step forward! And I am totally curious what you have going there...

Refilling your own bobbin?! I can't wait to see how the world of sewing will be changed by your contributions!

You are absolutly correct...three day weekends are for sewing.

That sounds like a good book title.

"three day weekends" then fill it with all your sewing ideas!!
