Cookies!

Today is my last day of work FOR THE YEAR.

Ha ha, I love saying that, it sounds so much cooler than what it really is.

As it is my last day, last night I baked.

But first there was prep work.

I took some of these:

100_6478

Stamped the back with some of the tired old holiday stamps I have:

100_6479

Addressed the backs, and punched a couple of holes at the top:

100_6481

Stuffed it with a LARGE* cookie, and tied it with a ribbon:

100_6482
(back)

100_6485
(front)

Now I've got a whole bag of cookie-cards to hand out at work:

100_6483

My only problem with this is what you see in the "back" picture of the cookie-card...the cookies were made with real butter (that's what makes 'em good!) and well they kinda made the back greasy.

But hell, I just don't care!!!

More cookies to come! Dr. Mad Scientist has informed me that his Thursday night class next week is a potluck. Meaning I'll be baking another batch of cookies on top of the ones I'm doing for his lab this weekend. Damn, what a horrible chore for me to endure. Ha ha!

*I made a double batch of my favorite chocolate chip cookies--added some toffee chips with the chocolate chips, rolled the dough into golf-ball sized balls, put them five cookies to a sheet, and baked them for twice as long as I would have baked normal sized cookies.

If cookies don't give off grease on paper, they're not worth eating. And let's face it--eating is the whole point of giving cookies.

That is SO clever!!! And next time, you could line the back side of the envelope with a piece of wax paper, which would keep the grease from coming through (or at least slow it down). Cutting out a bunch of squares of wax paper sounds like a good job for Chunky!

I agree - how cute and clever! I was just going to suggest waxed paper, but then I saw that someone else beat me to it in the comment!

I see you have nice handwriting too. I've been cursed with terrible handwriting. I used to always get bad grades in handwriting in elementary school (although as long as a kid's handwriting is legible, I don't see why teachers care if it looks pretty).

Mmmm, real butter! Are you sure you don't have any extra cookies you want to send my way? LOL!

Oh! That is a really cool idea!! Cookie Discs! Boy are the people at work going to love those, but dang then once their one is gone....Where will they get their next one? You know you can't just eat one cookie! If I got one of those I would guard it with my life! Love, Mom

That's friggin genious! I agree about the wax paper slowing down the buttery goodness going through the paper.

You are so lucky to be off for the rest of the year. :)

That's a really good idea! Maybe try wrapping them in plastic wrap to avoid the skids and smears?

Meh. Something tells me people won't be LOOKING at them long...they'll move onto the eatin'.

Yesterday was my last day of work for the year also - isn't fun - of course the 2 weeks without pay suck but the time off is wonderful - enjoy - I know I will.

What a good idea! I'll bet you could put the cookie into a sandwich bag first and it would keep the luscious butter from staining the envelope. I don't think anyone minded what the envelope looked like once they realized it was a cookie.

I only get two long weekends but I'm ok with that. I took off the 24th, 26th and the 2nd. I can't wait.

Cookie cards! You're brilliant.

Enjoy your time away from work. I wish I had enough vacation time left over this year, but, alas, I used it all up. So have even more fun when you think of me sitting at work.

Those are so cute! What an awesome idea. I don't think anyone's going to care about a little buttah seepin' through. YUM.

Very cute, and a great idea! A little waxed paper or parchment might combat the grease.

I love this idea! I am stealing it for next year! You could try wrapping them in saran wrap first next time so they don't stain the paper.
