Monday Monotony

I called it.

I told the girls at work I'd be bored at home after about four weeks. And here I am starting week five and yawns away!

Sadly the "snowstorm" was more like a snowfart.

Maybe an inch and a half if we were lucky--topped off with a sugar glaze of ice. Which rendered the snow unsleddable.

But Chunky and I did have fun tossing chunks of ice-snow off the railing of the apartment into the driveway. The chunks would shatter like glass on the cement.

Today I'm just waiting for Moochie to wake up so I can feed him and then take off to the office of Vital Statistics to pick up his birth certificate. I guess they don't mail them anymore. Lovely.

In the meantime I have this cooking for dinner.

That's a blurry shot of a downright vomit-looking crockpottery creation. There are porkchops in there under the vomit-looking mushroom sauce.

I love winter and the crockpot! I think I'm going to attempt an Italian wedding soup next time.

This weekend I also cast on for a pair of mittens for Chunky.

But I'm not going to have enough yarn. I might have to improvise a little.

He came home telling me about a kid at school that had flip-top mittens and he thought they were the coolest damn thing. I told him I could knit those for him and his eyes got really big and he asked me if I would.

How can I say no?

I might have to make the flip top a different color from the body of the mitten though as once that brown handspun is gone--it's gone.

You will definitely be the coolest mom ever with those mittens!
And, seriously, you have to go and get the stuff yourself. Don't they know that you have a small baby to get out of the house with.

Don't ya just love a kid like Chunky?
(so 'not spoiled')
I wonder what sort of teenager he'll be? Stay tuned, right? :-)

I think it's so cute when they want a hand knit item. I think multi colored mittens are great!

I am going to knit a pair of flip top fingerless mits for a Christmas gift next year. I think they are cool!

Too bad you're not here. 6 inches Saturday into Sunday, and I was cleaning it, all 6 inches of it, off the car this morning.

Chunky is lucky to have a mom who can whip up cool knitted creations for him!

Do you want some of my snow? We got enough here in the Cleveland area for a few cities, ha, ha!

Has it been 5 weeks already since you had the baby? Wow, that went by fast! I was terribly bored on my maternity leaves too, especially with my daughter. It's hard to get used to being home all day when you're used to going to work.

The whole birth certificate thing kills me. I had to get a copy of mine a few months ago, and it was $15 for a copay that took the clerk 5 minutes to pull up on the computer, and print out. Such a ripoff!

Oops, that should have said "copy".

The birth certificate thing is weird. They mailed Pi's to me. Granted, it took over a month but I didn't have to pick it up.

Even with the minimal snow, my landlord didn't put salt on my painted cement steps and they're totally iced over. I did a dangerous but funny little slip and slide down my steps this mroning.

I haven't had more than a week off at a time since 2001. I don't think I'd be bored very quickly at home, LOL

Mmm! I love pork chops and mushroom soup! I would love to crock pot more often, but I am a weinie about leaving it on when I'm not home.

You're right -- the crock pot stuff doesn't look very appetizing, but I'll bet it's really yummy!

And I was going to offer you some of our snow (with a more coming tonight, with ground blizzard conditions), but I see that several others have already offered!

That would be cool. Get Chunky to help pick out acolour he would lik ewiht the brown. That way he can show off his two-tone flippers!

Dude, Chunky has good taste. Tell him Aunt Mush has flip-top mittens and that they do indeed rock.

If anyone's up to the challenge of improvising on the mitt yarn......

Crockpot stuff never looks appetizing, but boy does it taste good, right!

12 inches last Saturday. Should have at least 4 today. Might be more. Hubby's car has a lot on it already, and he hasn't been home long

I love my flip-top mittens. They're store-bought, but they're perfect. We just had a snowfart here too. Give me my winter storm, dammit! I'll give even money that it will hit between Feb. 26-Mar 9. When I'm out of town for work. Of course.

Coolest mom ever indeed!! My sister asked for a pair of those too, but she's not as cute as Chunky, so no mitts for her! hehehehe

What a hassle to have to go get the BC. We live off the crockpot when it's cold- today I'm starting soup.

How cool is it that Chunky gets so excited you can make him something as basic as mittens- I love that!!

Oh- my wrod verification is fingers! How appropriate!

After 9/11, NJ went from having overly lax ID procedures to overly stringent ones. If teh terrorists get birth certificates, it won't be in NJ!

Flip top mittens ARE the coolest mittens, and moms who can knit them are the best moms!

(My security word is plutess. Huh.)

Soup in the crockpot-yum! We have a "blizzard warning" here in the QCA-cool, windy, & snow with more snow to come. Uncle Joe is on OT-got to keep the plows going. I think Uncle Joe has flip-flop mittens/gloves for when he goes ice fishing(which he did yesterday). Love, Aunt Susan
