Still Alive, or 40% Done

It's March 27, and I'm back.

Kind of.

I've only finished 40% of my data entry project. The project consisted of 1875 sheets of paper. It's hard to describe without compromising client confidentiality, but lets just say it takes me approximately one hour to enter the data from 16 sheets of paper.

I've spent approximately an hour to two hour each night daily (minus two nights--one I took off to bake Dr. Mad Scientist's birthday cake and another that I took "off" to type a huge-ass contract for another boss).

Today I emailed Big Boss to give him my progress. He wanted it all in by March 31. But obviously that's not going to happen. I gave it my best. I just can't enter it all AND work for four attorneys.

I still have to have a bit of a life. I haven't knit much at all since the end of February, but I've still be capitalizing on that bit o'life I have maintained during the throes of this project from hell.

March 2009

Don't worry, I've been keeping a list of stuff I want to blog about!

But don't get too excited--the beginning of April also means a visit from everyone's favorite blog mom!! Entries might be sparse that first week.

That is assuming a certain volcano settles down a bit.

(Stolen from

Isn't that cool? That's Mt. Redoubt's ash cloud (black smudge in the middle of the picture) from a satellite picture.

Takes me back to being a kid!!

Welcome back! Your dedication is amazing. I would have gone crossed-eyed and cried by now with all that data entry.

I hope your visit with your mom is great (and that no volcanos erupt).

Nice to see you online again! Every time I see/hear something about Mt. Redoubt, all I can think of is the quilting designer who uses Mount Redoubt Designs as her company name!

I looked at that picture and thought, "Hey, there's a mitten floating above the earth!" Figured you threw it into orbit out of data entry frustration. ;)

Data entry, no thanks, that's seriously a huge work load.
I hope your mom's trip isn't delayed by ash closing down the airport, that would suck.
Glad to see you popping back online, too :)

I have my fingers crossed! Every time they say it is over with that dang volcano blows! My boss was suppose to go to Boston on a Friday red eye and now is looking at a Sunday flight. It is not that we can't get out it is the connecting flights are full.

Can't wait to see Chunky, Moochman, Dr Ms and My Favorite Eldest Daughter!

Love, Mom

Yikes! Your boss should really keep all your hard work in mind when it comes time for a raise/and or bonus!

Nice to know you're still alive :).

As we're not machines, I hope you're not pushing the data entry too hard. Arms are meant for better picking up and cuddling with your kids...

Good luck with the next 60%. Having been a data entry drone, I know how awesome it will feel to be done done done.

Welcome back, at least for now! I hope your mom enjoys her visit. My brain was arrested by the whoopie pies -- when there's time, do tell more.

Glad to see that you are alive & kickin'. I think your boss owes you something big time! I think about your clan everytime I hear about that volcano. Glad it wasn't doing anything last summer when we went to visit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, lighting candles, whatever it takes to make sure your Mom gets to see you. Have a good visit with her. Love, Aunt Susan

Someone likes he chocolate! Childhood volcanoes... I was 8 years old when Mt. St. Helens blew, and living just outside of Vancouver at the time, we got ash everywhere as well.

I think that Mt. Redoubt is one of the coolest volcano names ever, and I'm sad that Washington State volcanos couldn't even hope to compete in a Sweet Volcano Name contest.

Also, welcome back. The project sounds overwhelming - I hope your bosses are understanding about it - and that you've been getting paid overtime for all the work you've put into it so far.

Looking forward to more updates - missed you, and glad to see that you and the family are doing well.

Are those whoopie pies? I love them but don't make them nearly enough.

I'm glad you're taking a (somewhat) break. That is an amazing amount of work. I hope they're appreciative.

Stay away from the volcano. Blog photos aren't worth it!
