It's Farmers' Market Season!

Me and the non-hairy boys hit the Montclair Farmers' Market this weekend. It was very crowded and Moochie wasn't too pleased being down in his stroller in the crowds.

I don't blame him.

I nearly had a throwdown with a yuppie couple that refused to yield half the sidewalk to us as we were leaving.

Apparently when you're busy yapping at your gently stubbled husband while standing at the helm of your SUV-esque jog stroller taking up the right side of the sidewalk while your other child, Scotty Snotnose, sits next to you on the left on his little perfect mini-bicycle, you don't have to bother trying to move or helping little Scotty Snotnose out of the way so others can pass.

I don't blame Scotty Snotnose, he looked barely old enough to be on a bike. But c'mon. Could you at least PRETEND to move out of the way? I had to push my stroller OFF the sidewalk into the grass to get around these clods.

I made sure to remark loudly to Chunky that I hoped he was courteous enough to know when to move out of the way when people needed to pass. Hee hee. I'm gonna get shot.

Bunch of savages in this town.

On the plus side, the tomatoes they had for sale were amazing!

And huge!

Half-baby-head sized!

We also just got word that "Wednesdays In Washington Park," the park across the street from the office are back--another farmers' market! I'll have to check it out.

I'm willing to bet Newark sidewalk pedestrians are more courteous.

Not sure how that picture ties in, but it was from the same shoot and cute.

The produce looks great (along with the little guy!). We have farmer's markets all over the QCA. Today just happens to be one not too far from us. I'll have to stop.

Some people are just rude. You wonder where they learn their manners. I'm like you & make comments. I'll get shot along with you.

Love, Aunt Susan

I tend not to make comments but would have said "excuse me" in a loud but polite voice. It points out their rudeness but I probably won't get shot.

Gorgeous tomatoes! I love the summer and Farmers' Markets.

Thank God today is Farmers' Market today after reading this post!

People all over this country have abandoned all decency and good sense. Truly. I am very afraid to get a concealed weapons permit because if I have it on me . . . well enough said out loud about that!

When I opened this post, I didn't see the bottom cucumber. I giggled more than I should have. :)

I don't think people get shot in Montclair, do they?

Mooch is quite the serious little fellow isn't he?

It's Jersey, they probably barely noticed your comment. Probably thought it was rude of you to want to use the sidewalk at the same time!

I love the Farmer's Market. Ours is mostly storage stuff, plants, the usual dairy (lots of cheese), and some baked goods right now, but the strawberries are turning red, and so we should start seeing more good stuff at the Farmer's Market, too.

Of course, here at home, I have lettuce, beet greens, peas (galore!), spinach, green onions and garlic scapes.

How's your garden doing?

Oh! To get a tomato that big!!!!

We are getting into the "Farmer's Market" with "Friday Flings" but the only produce is turnups, carrots and the like.

Cute pictures of Moochman.

Love, Mom

I'm hoping our farmer's market starts this weekend. It started last weekend of June last year.

Non-hairy boys. Hahahahhaha

I've been getting blueberries at our local market and the tomatoes are just starting to get really good! They are my favorite summer food.

Yowza, that is a huge tomato. I would have said the same thing, I hate it when people think they rule the road/sidewalks etc! My favorites are cukes...

A collander never looked so cute as headgear before.

I'm hoping that being close to Union Square now will mean a farmer's market somewhere close by. Oh, and I would have totally run my stroller wheel over the other mom's foot.

Oooh, that's a tasty looking tomato - I love tomatoes!

Some people are so rude. I unfortunately have to agree with BammerKT - good manners and common courtesy have really seem to have gone down the drain. When I was pregnant with my son, and taking the bus to work people would just push right ahead of me to get on the bus, not offer me a seat when the bus was full, etc. Lots of times I ended up standing the whole ride to work.

There's a handicapped guy who works for the BOE, and he and I sometimes catch the same bus after work. I rarely see anyone let him get on the bus ahead of them, and I've only seen someone get up and offer him a seat once. Inconsiderate times we're living in.

So now I know the park you're talking about! I'll have to plan my next trip for a wednesday - I don't get there very often, but maybe one time we can meet up for a quick hello! I'm guessing no yarn stores in Newark....

Holy crap that's a big tomatoe! As for the SUV-stroller and kid, yeah, I don't get it and my husband has beenknown to actually push strollers and the like out of hte way when it is completely blocking things. He figures it's the parent't problem, not his...

You would think where I live we would have a decent farmers market, but we do not. Now, if you travel to St. Louis and KC, they are huge there. It kinda pisses me off...just a little though.

Oh my page loaded and all I saw at first was the cucumber and tomatoes and it looked pornographic mind was in the gutter lol

The couple just sound obnoxious and rude. I think those big ass strollers are great for a walk on a trail or in a park but good lord...on a bus or in a market...get a clue people.

Yeah...yesterday I went to the book store, and there was this woman with her 3 kids, who were taking their sweet time getting in. Once she had finally maneuvered her brood inside, they stopped... right behind the door, leaving me in the space between the inner and outer door. And stood there. Uh... hello? There are other people, you know, the kind who only get a half hour for lunch?

But now, we have a farmer's market outside work every Friday. I love it. Nothing like picking up dinner on the way home without having to make a detour.
