The weekend has arrived. Thank god.

Last Sunday I picked Mooch up out of his crib in the morning to find I had a baby hot-potato. He was burning up with a fever. Four days of daycare and he had managed to pick up the communal crud.

While I appreciate his ability to be a go-getter, he was nice enough to pass the crud off to me.

He was over the runny nose and fever by Monday morning.

Just as it was hitting me.

The worst part about this crud is that it was bad, but not so bad as to knock you flat on your ass. So while I felt like crap, it wasn't so horrible that calling in sick would have been an option.

It's been almost a week since my baby shared with me.

All that's left is a hacking cough and a clogged ear that will.not.pop. So annoying.

As such, I didn't do much this weekend. Just some sewing.

I made Dr. Mad Scientist some lounge-pants out of some football flannel (I didn't get a picture yet). He wore them during the CSU/Nevada game and CSU won. They probably won't be washed as a result for a while.

I also cut out another pair of lounge pants for myself.

With the scraps I made these.

Here. Let me zoom in a bit.

They're a little short (boy measured in at 28.25" this week)and the buttscye wasn't deep enough. But that's OK. I'll tink with the pattern to make a pair of pants to match daddy's with the scraps from Dr. Mad Scientist's pants.

Don't worry. I'm actually knitting too. Hopefully something that won't be a big FAIL like the last three things I've knit!!!

Good Lord that is a cute kid. Just ridiculously adorable. Which is, I assume, the only reason he hasn't been in major trouble for getting you sick? :)

Sorry about the creeping crud. It's been going around, I think.

Why oh why does daycare do that to us? When N. started he promptly got his first cold (agony) and somehow managed to infect me with pinkeye (without getting it himself).

(Oh, and, the more you sew the more I feel like demanding that my mom send me the sewing machine she promised me 2 years ago... I miss sewing.)

I hope the sheepy baby butt helps you feel better - it's too cute not to, imho.

Who cares about the knitting when you're sewing up a cute-storm.

I wonder how many people at your work got sick because you went in. Did you wash your hands EVERY time you blew your nose? Ew! I wish people who were sick would stay at home.

The ear, yeah been there. Hope you're better soon.
Isn't is cool to make your own basics like lounge pants? They are so expensive retail and not custom fit. (Since he is such a long baby, you might have to learn how to extend the front and back crotch length of all his pants prior to cutting-out. It is not a hard alteration.)

Oh! So he passed the crud on to you. What about Chunky and DrMS?
Your Youngest Sister is leaving for Fairbanks to fill in for some people at the Fairbanks Corp be cause of sickness. Your Father and I are going to watch Eddie Face for her. Yes the crud is everywhere.
Nice lounge pants!! I love the smile they put on his face!!
Love, Mom

Those pants are SO cute - I'll bet their cute on your butt, too, not just the baby butt! It sort of makes me want to sew (or maybe buy a pattern and fabric and take it all to my mom to sew!)

How many people at work did you infect?

Too bad about the crud. We are all feeling crappy but it's allergy the change of seasons...gets us every time! I sounded worse than some of my patients! Thank the gods that I was off for a few days. I'm still hoarse at would help if I would not talk...yeah, right.

Hope you all feel better soon. Love, Aunt Susan

I hope you feel better soon. Sudafed + Advil made my ears tolerable again. I'm no doctor, but that's what I've recommended all month to everyone who's caught the "ear" thing.

Living surrounded by universities, you can't turn around without hearing/reading/seeing the "cough + fever go to the doctor" due to the swine-scare-09 part two... It's been a world-o-fun at work every time someone sneezes :).

You are way too productive when ill. Yes, a wee bit jealous.

Sorry you've been sick. I know what you mean by "not bad enough to call in sick." I'm fortunate enough that I could work from home if need be, but I haven't gotten sick in a while so I haven't had to use that option. I'm sure you would have exerted that option if you had it.

Baby butt with little sheep pants. You sure know how to push our buttons!

Sorry you've been feeling yucky. The crud has been going around over here too, it seems to come with coughing and fatigue and all sorts of unpleasantness. Daycare is a great place to pick it up, particularly before that immune system kicks in.

Ook - sorry to hear you are sick! I love the baby flannel pants - but what is a buttscye? I'm not a seamstress, so there's probably a whole 'nother vocab out there foreign to me.

Very cute pants! Pi begged me for some frog flannel and she wants pj pants out of them. I've never tried them, but am going to dive in soon.

Sucks you were sick. My right ear clogs when I tilt my head to the left and then pops when I tilt to the right. Makes sleeping on my side a pain in the ass!

Those little pants are adorable!

I always catch stuff from my kids. In fact, I'm getting over a cold right now, too, which I caught from my daughter. I was never sick so often until I had my kids.

My daughter's first year in daycare as a baby, she caught hand foot and mouth disease, and roseola, and it seemed had constant boughts of the cold or flu. I was always missing work to stay home with her, and I unfortunately had a lousy boss who (because he had grown kids, and his wife was a stay at home mom since the kids were born) couldn't understand why I needed to miss work, and was constantly giving me a hard time about it.

It's a never ending battle balancing work and home, and trying to figure out when the kids are really sick enough to warrant staying home from school or daycare.

All these pandemic flu experts who tell parents to keep their kids home at the slightest sign of a sniffle apparently haven't taken into consideration the fact that most mothers are now in the workforce, and that too many employers still either don't give their employees any sick time at all, or give them an inadequate amount, and/or give the sick time, but punish employees if they use it. The U.S. is woefully behind the times when it comes to family-friendly work policies.

OK, I guess that's enough griping for now. Hope you feel better soon!

Feel better soon! I'm impressed with your mad garment sewing skillz. Not a talent set I have cultivated in myself, but if you need something quilted, I'm your girl!
