Tripping Over Boxes

But at least I'm tripping over boxes wearing new socks.

I give you the last FO of Squirrel Gables at Shit Corners.

These were primarily car knitting though. I haven't been spending too many evenings in front of the TV lately. When the monkey boys go to bed, it's packing time.

The details:

Yarn: Lorna's Laces in "Tahoe"

Pattern: I just grabbed a rib pattern from a stitch dictionary that translated nicely to ankle circumference. In this case it was a Double Eyelet Rib.

Needles: US 2s

Notes: What's there really to say? That's one of the things I like about socks. It's not hard to just plug in a stitch pattern and go. These are knit from the top down, on DPNs, with a boring old heel flap using a round heel pattern. No toe-up, no circulars, no short row or mindblowingcatbordhimumbojumbo heel. Plain old boring socks!!!

Very pretty! DPN's still drive me crazy, even though I've used them a few times for the tops of hats, so I'm always amazed when people knit things like socks entirely with them. The idea of using such thin yarn and tiny needles totally intimidates me too.

But they're the last boring socks finished there! I like a good pair of boring socks. I have cat bordhi's book but haven't felt like going to the trouble of learning a new way of doing things. Lazy me.

Nice socks! Didn't you use that color of yarn for some for your Youngest Younger Sister? And the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree....waste not want not!
Good luck on the packing! Love, Mom

Those socks look great. I would have guessed Smooshy instead of LL, but regardless I like it!

I love that everyone has a different definition of "plain old boring socks." Mine actually uses the Cat Bordhi mumbo-jumbo heel and 2 circs. It's the only heel I don't have to do in a single sitting and don't need a whole page of reference to get right. But hey, there's plenty of room for everyone!

The socks are beautiful! I'm with Laura...the tiny yarn scares me. I still haven't finished the sock I was making when I met you.

Isn't packing a @&^%#*%^?

Oooo, those socks are purty. Packing is a b!t*%, but the anticipation of GETTING OUT makes it more than tolerable, eh?

Now I want socks. Hmm.

"Plain old boring" top-down, DPN, heel flap socks are my favorite, too! I like "interesting" knitting, but not in my socks.

Boring socks work for me.

And now you're using the secret to my knitting success, for the last um, yeah, since I was 9. Pick a stitch you like and go with it...except you're even more a rebel, turning it into an "in the round" pattern...I just make scarves and doilies :). Why I've never tried with socks? Lazy I guess.

I enjoy "boring" socks most of all - they are quick, easy, knit up fast and I can make lots of them for my family - I just do plain old stockinette and am loved for it ;}. I'm now inspired to do some lace ones though - first the other pairs I've promised to the family.

The socks are beautiful!

I just got caught up on the Zorba/house drama. Wow, I can't believe what a craphole that place is! I knew about the oven knob, and the mice, but I didn't know about the squirrels or the leaks. I'm so glad you are moving!
