Peek A Boo

I'm still here.

This Dilbert from Saturday about sums it up.

I got chumped into staying late on Friday night to do another secretary's work (because you know, she had to leave at 5:00) and oh, of course look up plane tickets to Rome for fourth of July for Big Boss.

Uh huh.

The attorney I got chumped into doing work for was nice enough to jot me off a little "thank you for staying late Friday night" email.

Big Boss thanked me by dumping a 3' stack of filing on my desk.

Ok, that's cool. I know, filing is part of my job description.

But seriously, when you put it on my desk could you be a bit more gentle?

He slammed it on my desk with such force my keyboard, date stamp, water bottle, stapler and pens all went flying.

I had a nice little mess waiting for me this morning.

On the plus side he booked his own damn Rome tickets Friday night. I love it when they go on vacation overseas. No fucking email and no fucking iphones.

Instant connect-ability is one of the many reasons I hate iphones.

Ok, pushing out the jive and bringing in the love!

I've been pushing out the jive by doing some cookie R&D for the next issue of Knitcircus. (For some reason, I can't get the site to link to my blog--just go to www . knitcircus . com!)

I'm still futzing around trying to capture the perfect "fall" cookie.

Fall cookie needs molasses in it. And I love the Dilbert cartoon - my life is like that most of the time and then my Dad bitches at me for not blogging.

I had a "Cathy" on my desk for about a decade that closed with something along the lines of "do it in your free time/what free time?" That's not my life right this minute, but I do understand. Good luck, and I hope things get better very soon!

Why were you booking tickets for his trip to Rome?? Shoulda told him never to tip his waiter there because they are profoundly embarrassed when they are given excess money. And the water is safe to drink, esp. at the Trevi Fountain. Of course it's clean...that's why it's BLUE...

And yeah, I freakin' hate iPhones. FIL has one, of all people, and he was symbiotically attached to it ("just checking the headlines...") when he was here.

Very enticing batter bowl. Looking forward to what you come up with.

I hate spending all that time researching flights for them to just book it on their own. If you were going to do it yourself, you should have done the homework too!!! Or at least have your wife that stays at home do it!

Ahem. I'm not bitter.

I hear ya' about work. We keep having to do more & more with less staff. So much for patient care....

Looking forward to the new cookie.

How bizarre. Was your lese-majeste going home before Big Boss went home or "neglecting" your own work to cover for someone else? Eyeroll.

Looking forward to fall cookies, although with today's heat and humidity, I'm currently prostrate and incapable of imaging crisp autumn weather, let alone imagining baking. How cookie artists suffer for their art, for the benefit of all!

Some of the goofballs at this office have figured out how to use their iPhones overseas And think what they have to say is worth $2.50/minute.

I hope your bosses keep all your hard work in mind when it comes time for raises and/or bonuses.

People who are perpetually glued to their cell phones irritate me to no end! There's no shortgage of idiots in downtown Cleveland who are so busy talking on their cell phones that they don't watch where they're going, and just walk right out into traffic, and in front of busses. The ones who like to talk at the top of their lungs on their phones on the bus, so everyone can hear their personal business are great, too.

Well, gee, most people have a backyard barbeque or at least stay in the United States to celebrate the independence of the United States. I'm just imagining the convo: "Honey, what do you think we should do to celebrate the country's freedom from Great Britain?" *pause* "Let's go to Rome!" "Wow, great idea!"

I can't think of anything fall related in this heat.

Sucks about the desk. Hope the mess wasn't too bad. I've never had to book a trip for my boss, but she's not loaded since she's not an attorney.

I once made a pumpkin cookie that had the consistency of cake but tasted of pumpkin pie. I might be able to find the recipe...

Ooooh, cookies! Fall is such a great baking season - can't wait until the heat here has subsided and pumpkins and squash are on the menu again.

I know that mobile phones are supposed to be, well, mobile, but don't people miss *not* being in contact? I leave my *cough* iPhone *cough* at home all the time - why would I want to be bothered if I've something to do?

Taste test volunteer, reporting for duty. Let's see how they hold up in the mail. I vote for something with oatmeal, but am perfectly willing to bow before the judgement of the baker.
