Garden Pests

I didn't grow this--Basement Neighbor did.

It's his first zucchini of the season. And he was nice enough to give it to us!

I have plans to grate half of it for zucchini bread and do something with the other half and eat it with dinner tomorrow night.

But before I could do anything with it--a garden pest got to it.

It gnawed the whole top off!

Was it a moose?

A deer?

A bunny?

A squirrel?

A starling?

A caterpillar?

A snail?

It was this--a fine conneseiur of homegrown vegetables and homemade jams/preserves:

Basement Neighbor handed it to Mooch right off the vine and the little booger started going to town on it! Ha ha!

Ah well, at least he eats his veggies!

Eventually he'll learn to pace himself and be able to make it through the entire slice of bread before the food coma hits....

First thought was, "DUDE, that is one gigantic cucumber."

Second thought was, "DUDE, Moochie is totally riding the jam high."

Dave kept stealing my tomatoes and eating them like apples. They were 2.59 a pound! He also bit into a banana before I could take it from him and peel it.

Maybe it's a toddler thing? *shrugs*

Hey! Poops, I eat tomatoes like they are apples!! And I am FAR from a toddler! On second thought....maybe I am just going through a second toddlerhood! Naaaaaah, I've always eaten tomatoes like apples!

Is that Moochie on a jam and bread high or what! And at least he isn't eating shrooms that you don't know if they are edible or not!

Love, Mom

You should be glad he likes zuchini. My kids wouldn't eat it no matter what I did.

Now, however, they will pay money to go to a diner and eat soggy limp zuchini sticks.

I love it! We have a huge cuke on the vine that's ready for today. I wish I would have thought to plant squash in some form!

I laughed out loud! I was wondering what kind of garden pest could take such big bites. Now I know!

LOL! Not to worry, there will be more zucchini -- just wait 'til August, when gardeners have to unload 'em in the dark of night!

I love it when my kiddo looks at me and says "Eat it?" I say sure. He has eaten and enjoyed raw onion!
