Mark It!

We made it to December 3*.

100_9903

Mainly it was Dr. Mad Scientist who caved. I could have probably gone another week.

Weenie.

Right now it's set on 65 and Chunky just turned to me and said "It's kind of hot in here."

That's my boy!!!

Hopefully more normal blogging will resume soon.

Work has been a Bitch with a capital B. Oh there's so much to whine about there but I fear anyone at work finding this blog. Let's just say it involves lots of mandatory OT**, juggling already overwhelming workloads, and very low morale among the secretarial staff.

And then poor Chunky got the 24 Hour Barfing virus that has been making the rounds at school. He ended up blowing chunks at school. Poor kid was pretty embarrassed.
Thankfully that was Tuesday and he was fully recovered on Wednesday.

Ah to be so young and bounce-backable!

Needless to say, I'm happy to see this week in the rearview mirror!

* We were "lucky" to have warm fall weather. I mean it was 60 degrees a few days ago. In DECEMBER. Maybe Al Gore isn't just full of himself after all.

** Next person I hear say "Oh but at least you get paid extra for it..." in reference to overtime or mandatory overtime, I will smack. Whores get paid too. Do you think they enjoy what they do just because they get paid? Money doesn't buy happiness!

Ha! Dont worry about it. Just think, 12/19 is the anniversary of the "Big Snow" of last year! We'll be getting that and bitter cold soon enough (with that just typed as my heat kicks on this very minute, and my poor Chihuahua is hiding under something to keep warm!).

Re: the OT. I am so with you! Who cares if you get paid? Personally, I wouldn't want to be at work all of the time. There's just more to life!

It took me a lot of years, but I finally got my husband to understand that it was not okay to be expected to work a million hours, even if he was getting paid.

Congrats on the holding out with turning on the heat. It has been an unusually warm fall so far - a little concerning, to be sure. I hope Al Gore is full of himself, but with temps like we've had, it's hard not to believe something is amiss.

Bea got the barfing virus, then gave it to Max. Who also blew chunks at school. Tell Chunky he's not alone in that mortification.

As for the temp...when I take Bea to the Tagesmutter, I put her in a long sleeved onesie, thick Strumpfhosen, a thick pair of socks that go up to her crotch, a fleece, and a flannel lined pair of corduroy overalls. Then her big hat and winter coat. The Germans go for layers in the winter and exercise to keep warm. And saunas, but that's another matter entirely...

Don't know how you held out so long. We've been heat weenies since October. Though, we have a sickly edlerly lasy living with us.

We've been sick too. Mostly hubs and Pi (poor kid was absent the entire week), but I'm officially sick now too. Yipee, perfect timing for finals week, haha. Glad CHunky got better quickly.

I think you and I could share work stories this week. It could be therapuetic.

OK, I won't say anything about your overtime. I know how hard that is when you have kids at home, especially when they're in school, and you have to come and home from a long day of work and deal with homework on top of it. I dream about being able to work part-time, and be home with my kids in the afternoons after school. That would relieve a lot of stress.

My husband has been working 6 days a week since the summer, and some Sundays too. He works at a factory that makes parts for the auto and airline industries, and they're swamped with orders. I'm thankful for the extra money, but it does still suck when he's at work every weekend.

P.S. I'm very impressed that you've just now turned your heat on! I've had mine on since, oh, about the beginning of October!

Amen to that...OT money isn't enough to keep me from being cranky about having to do it in the first place...and I am a big cranky panks as it is :).

I've found a laptop is an awesome "seat/lap warmer" this winter. And if you have a towel or throw blanket between it and your legs you can then move that towel/blanket to say your shoulders? Ahhhh (Just make sure the laptop is then seated on a second towel/lap blanket to have a revolving spot warmer.)

We finally caved this past week, too. Our house is cool anyway so we're all used to wearing heavy socks and sweaters.

I hate working overtime. I'm a salaried employee and there is no payment for it so I try to make sure I leave when I'm supposed to but that doesn't often happen. Extra pay doesn't make up for the time away from the family.

You're amazing! I keep my heat on all year! We did have a really cold, rainy summer...

OT is the pits, they need more staff! You're already working way more than anyone should be expected to, I don't know how you do it.

Glad Chunky has recovered, that's the worst.

We alllllmost made it to December, but it's turned down lower than 65 and no complaints thus far. Bebeh gets layers and a fleece sleepsack at night, and Mike is a human furnace.

Congratulations on the thermostat holdout of 2010. I caved long ago.

Yeah, I caved a long time ago on the heat! But then I do have an excuse....I live on the "Dark Side of the Moon"!! Hahahaha That is my excuse and I am sticking to it!!

As for the overtime! Why are these people not hiring? Why are they over loading their good workers? I don't understand employers...Do they really want to take the chance of some of their best workers leaving? Just some ???'s to think about.

Love, Mom
