A Russian and a Mexican Walk Into A Bakery...

And they both order a simple butter cookie.

One gets a Russian Teacake.

The other gets a Mexican Wedding Cake.

In actuality they get pretty much the same damn cookie.

Which also happens to be the Cookie of the Week.

Chocolate Chip Mexican Wedding Cakes.

Which I hear are something gringos probably just made up.

In actuality the Mexican Wedding Cake/Russian Teacake, according to The Field Guide to Cookies, are more than likely a descendant from the sugar cakes that Arabs introduced to the Europeans.

A Mexican Wedding Cake just appears to be a Russian Teacake with cinnamon.

Whatever the subtle differences are--Chocolate Chip Mexican Wedding Cakes are the Cookie of the Week.

Add in your vanilla. Next add in the nuts, cinnamon and flour till incorporated into a nice consistent dough. Mix in the chocolate chips.

Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the botoms of the cookie are golden brown.

They sound good. The tea cakes are similar to Polish Butter Horns. We probably all have a recipe for cookies made with butter, sugar and flour.

I have a KitchenAid hand mixer but I also have a KitchenAid stand mixer which I love love love. Wouldn't trade it for anything

Mmm! Those look great, and I don't even like Mexican Wedding Cookies/Russian Tea Cakes! As for the mixers, I'll admit that I have been drooling for years over the big, sexy KitchenAid stand mixers. But, I'll probably keep my cheapo hand mixer even if I do ever get a stand mixer. I'm kind of attached to it.

Yum! They look delicious. Wonder why us PRs don't have a wedding cookie. Hmmm.

Had a good laugh. But don't throw George Foreman away before having had a look inside. It might just be a loose contact that made it give up the ghost.
