I took these.
And some of these.
And filled up this.
And I made seven jars of blueberry jam.
While the jars were in the stockpot sealing--I munched on the dregs of the jam left in my stockpot.
And I crunched down on glass.
The tip of my candy thermometer had broken off into my jam.
Seven jars of jam contaminated with broken glass.
Seven jars literally down the drain.
Sob!

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. I know that it was very upsetting having to throw out your just made jam. The good side is that you found this out now and not when one of your children had eaten any of that jam and become ill or cut their mouths. I hope that you had not cut yours. There will be future jams made and this will be but a memory.

Wow, that's awful, and what a frustrating waste of time and money! I hope you weren't hurt when you bit into the glass!

That stinks. I am mourning for the lost jam. Why do you use a candy thermometer? I'm kind of scared I'm doing it wrong as I've never used one...just tested consistency and considered it done...
Ouch. That was a close call. Seven jars of goodness down the drain. That's sad. At least it's blueberry season and you can get them at roadside stands for less. I look forward to this time of year since the darn things cost so much all the rest of the time.

That sucks so bad, especially since blueberries are so expensive! So sorry!
How wretched! But as others have said, better that you found out before you had to instigate a "recall."
