Summer Wrap Up
Life got busy, what can I say?
Here's a quick highlight of what we've been up to this past month.
In early August, we had our annual day of fun with Grandma Great and Auntie Jaywalker. We took a touristy train ride around the Catskills and had a picnic lunch.
A week after our meet up, because in early July we were told that the repairs to Dr. Mad Scientist's 1996 Mazda Protege were going to cost more than the car was worth, we bit the bullet and bought a new car. So much for the debt-free life.
But it's a nice non-mini van ride--a Mazda CX-9. She seats seven and has decent hauling room. We hope to have this car for a long, long time. I told Chunky he'll probably learn to drive with this car. Yikes.
My Pot Garden is winding down it's summer "crops."
I got an extra bonus this year--a volunteer tomato plant from the use of composted soil.
Do you like my tacky "tomato cage?"
My potted pumpkin also did a decent job. The poor thing got powdery mildew...so by the time I realized it, it was too late. But that's OK. I learned a lot about pumpkin germination and signs of powdery mildew--I can't wait until next spring!
Before my vine died though I did get one small pumpkin.
But now summer is coming to an end...
As evidenced by our yearly outing to the apple orchard last weekend.
And soon there will be no more evening walks to the park.
Replaced instead by Chunky's football practice.
And on Monday, these two monkeys go back to "school."
Baby Sister's been lucky to have delayed having to go to daycare until she's five months old.
Five months old already! Time flies (and no blogging gets done) when you're having fun!
